PhD Student

Mauricio Böhl Gutierrez

Mauricio Böhl Gutierrez is a PhD student at the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University and a researcher at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS). He focuses on the design and political economy of energy subsidy reforms to understand factors that increase public acceptability of phase-out processes. Subsidy reforms can discourage fossil fuel use and foster the transition to renewable energy, helping mitigate climate change. He wants to support policymakers in designing reforms that contribute to long-term change. At IDOS, he is an active member of the Research Ethics Committee and coordinates the institute’s approach to integrating Artificial Intelligence into the work process.
